Goldman Sachs Chief Economist: The Federal Reserve will make decisions based on data, unaffected by survey pressures
According to Jin Ten, Goldman Sachs chief economist Jan Hatzius stated that the threat of criminal charges against the Federal Reserve Chairman will intensify market concerns about the independence of the central bank, but he expects the Fed to still make policy decisions based on economic data.
Hatzius pointed out at the 2026 Goldman Sachs Global Strategy Conference that Powell will make decisions based on economic data during the remainder of his term, without leaning in any direction due to pressure.
