The South Korean Presidential Office: Samsung and SK Hynix will announce significant investment plans on Monday
According to a report by Jinshi citing the Korea Times, the South Korean presidential office announced on Sunday that Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix will unveil significant investment plans on Monday during a meeting hosted by President Lee Jae-myung.
The related investment will be announced at a briefing held at the Blue House at 2 PM KST (1 PM Beijing time) on Monday, aimed at introducing the "three major super projects" promoted by the government to achieve regional balanced development. A spokesperson added that the plan is jointly promoted by the departments of trade, technology, transportation, and energy. Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won will attend the event and participate in a discussion session with other attendees.
Industry observers expect that these two chip manufacturers will invest more than 100 trillion won (approximately 65 billion USD) over the next decade, which may include the possibility of developing a chip industry cluster in the southwestern Hunan region. Lee Jae-myung referred to this investment on Saturday as a "historic achievement" and a policy initiative that could change South Korea's fate.
