Former FTX COO: The Netflix trailer made her nauseous
Former FTX Chief Operating Officer Constance Wang posted on X on Friday that many people have messaged her to discuss the full trailer of the FTX-themed series "The Altruists" released by Netflix this week, and after watching it, she felt "physically sick."
Wang served as FTX's Chief Operating Officer since early 2019 and was co-CEO in the last few months before the exchange's collapse until the crash in November 2022. She stated that the companies depicted in the trailer bear little resemblance to her work experience, mentioning that she was one of the last people to leave the Bahamas after Sam Bankman-Fried was extradited, losing everything in the process and taking a long time to recover, with no intention of defending those responsible for the situation.
She also noted that the media enjoys the narrative of "FTX blowing up because everyone was partying in the Bahamas," but her workplace was nothing like that. The series is an eight-episode limited series, set to premiere on Netflix on November 19, and the approximately two-minute trailer has sparked criticism of the portrayals of former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried and former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison.
