The collaboration platform Airtable will cut most of its teams before the acquisition

On October 12, Alessandro Savarese, the product head of the collaboration platform Airtable, stated that he joined Bending Spoons after completing the acquisition in early September and is responsible for product development. The team has communicated with customers, builders, account administrators, and partners to identify priorities for the remainder of 2026 and most of 2027. The vision is to place teams, data, workflows, and agents on the same platform, with investment directions including continuous improvement of the core product, enabling AI to collaborate with humans, and strengthening centralized control at the account level.

Organizationally, Airtable will part ways with a significant portion of the pre-acquisition team, with relevant personnel leaving by the end of that week and receiving severance compensation. For customers, the packages, pricing, and service content remain unchanged, and the customer-facing organization is unaffected. In terms of products, the Speedy Squad has released over 30 improvements in the past three weeks, including increasing automation limits, automating the addition and deletion of record actions, and more granular editing permissions on list pages; this group will be merged into the Core team led by long-time employee Akshar Patel.
