Rising energy prices in the United States may affect core inflation
Economists expect the overall CPI in the United States to rise by 0.6% month-on-month and 3.6% year-on-year in September. Excluding food and energy, the core CPI is expected to rise by 0.2% month-on-month and 2.5% year-on-year.
Tony Rodriguez, head of fixed income strategy at Nuveen, stated that the rise in energy prices has not yet translated into core inflation, but if it continues for two consecutive quarters, it may affect food and commodity prices.
