first_img Trump said that stock trading is for America, not for himself

On September 6, local time, U.S. President Trump posted on the social platform Truth Social, stating that he earned "hundreds of billions of dollars" for the United States through stocks and holding various other assets, and he expressed, "I do this for our country, not for myself." The post also mentioned that the only response he received was criticism from the radical left "foolish Democrats."According to a previous report by Reuters, information from the U.S. Office of Government Ethics shows that Trump disclosed personal securities transactions totaling at least $220 million and up to about $750 million in the first three months of 2026. Annual financial documents released by the U.S. Office of Government Ethics indicate that Trump's total income for 2025 was at least $2.2 billion, far exceeding his income of about $622 million in 2024 when he had not returned to the White House. On the same day, Trump also shared an AI-generated image, which appeared to show him trading in the Oval Office, with the screen displaying Intel's stock price rising from $20 to $95. In August of last year, the U.S. federal government invested about $8.9 billion to purchase a 9.9% stake in Intel at a price of $20.47 per share; CNBC reported that on September 4, 2026, the company's stock closed at $95.80. A White House spokesperson stated that all stock transactions under Trump's name are conducted by external financial managers, and Trump and his family have no control over specific trading decisions.

first_img The British judge rejected the extradition defense of the former CEO of Saitama, and the case has been transferred to the UK government

According to a report by Reuters, British judge Samuel Goozee dismissed the extradition defense of former Saitama CEO Manpreet Kohli on August 19 and transferred the case to the UK government to make a decision on the US extradition request. Kohli can still appeal, and the extradition has not been finalized; he is currently released on bail set at £200,000 (approximately $272,400).US prosecutors have charged Kohli with wire fraud, market manipulation, and related conspiracy, as well as operating an unlicensed remittance business, involving the Ethereum-based token Saitama, which once had a market value of about $7.5 billion. Kohli defended himself by arguing that the US could not adequately handle his mental health and the risk of suicide during detention, but the judge believed that the transfer and the safeguards of the US prison system could reduce the risk to an acceptable level. Previously, a federal judge in Boston had also dismissed his motion to dismiss the charges. The case stems from the "Operation Token Mirrors" investigation initiated by the US Department of Justice in October 2024, involving fraud and wash trading. Prosecutors allege that 18 individuals, including Kohli, coordinated multiple wallets to purchase tokens and paid ZM Quant and Gotbit to conduct wash trading on several exchanges, with Kohli suspected of profiting about $20 million. Gotbit has admitted to manipulating token prices and trading volumes and was ordered to pay $23 million in June 2025, while its founder Aleksei Andriunin was sentenced to 8 months in prison.

Jim Cramer said he will liquidate his Bitcoin holdings, concerned about the threat of quantum computing to its security

Former hedge fund manager and CNBC host Jim Cramer stated that due to concerns about quantum computing threatening Bitcoin's security, he plans to sell all of his BTC holdings. His statement stems from an interview with IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna, who said that investors should be wary of the challenges quantum computing may pose to modern cryptography in the next 3 to 4 years. Cramer believes that quantum computing could threaten the Bitcoin network in a similar timeframe. However, no one has independently confirmed how much BTC he holds or whether he has completed the sale. After his statement, Bitcoin continued to trade normally around $63,764, with some market participants viewing his comments as a "reverse Cramer" signal. Bitcoin uses the ECDSA signature mechanism based on the secp256k1 curve, and theoretically, a sufficiently powerful quantum computer could use Shor's algorithm to derive the private key from the public key. The risk is mainly concentrated on addresses with exposed public keys, including reused addresses, early wallet formats, and the brief time window after a transaction is broadcast but not yet confirmed. Researchers estimate that about 6 to 7 million BTC, accounting for approximately 30% of the supply, may fall into this category. Google Quantum AI estimated in March this year that breaking the relevant cryptographic mechanisms could require fewer than 500,000 physical qubits, reducing the previous estimate by about 20 times. However, current quantum systems typically only have hundreds to thousands of physical qubits, with even fewer logical qubits that have higher reliability. Most researchers expect that truly capable quantum computers for cryptographic breaking may not appear until the 2030s or even 2040s, making Cramer's 3-year prediction significantly earlier than most technological expectations.
