Grayscale Chief Legal Officer: The Grayscale vs. SEC case may reach a final ruling this fall
ChainCatcher news, Grayscale's Chief Legal Officer Craig Salm posted on social media that he will soon submit the next brief in the lawsuit, questioning the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)'s decision to deny the conversion of GBTC into a spot Bitcoin ETF. While the timing is uncertain, oral arguments may take place in the second quarter, and a final ruling from the Washington federal court could arrive in the fall.
Previously reported, last October Grayscale submitted key points for the legal proceedings against the SEC, stating that the SEC's refusal to convert GBTC into a spot Bitcoin ETF exceeded its statutory authority; in December, the SEC submitted its first legal brief in response to Grayscale's lawsuit regarding the denial of the GBTC conversion, arguing that its refusal was "reasonable, with reasonable explanations, and supported by substantial evidence."
