El Salvador's Finance Minister: No more Bitcoin purchases since February
ChainCatcher news, according to The Block, El Salvador's Minister of Finance and the Central Bank President confirmed to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that since signing the financing agreement in February 2025, the government has not purchased any more Bitcoin, and the existing Bitcoin quantity remains unchanged, with the relevant wallet addresses provided to the IMF for monitoring.
This statement contradicts President Bukele's public declaration of "buying 1 Bitcoin daily." The IMF stated that the increase in Bitcoin balance only reflects internal consolidation and does not violate the financing agreement.
