ChainCatcher news, according to Decrypt, the Lancashire police in the UK seized Bitcoin converted by criminals in 2017, and due to the surge in Bitcoin prices, they gained a surplus of $1.3 million after liquidation. According to UK law, victims can only be compensated for the original amount, and the police allocated $665,000 (£500,000) to the crime-fighting fund, which will be used to purchase drones, anti-fraud equipment, and more. The remaining amount will be submitted to the government. The police stated that this move achieves full compensation for the victims while the additional funds will be used for crime prevention. The criminals involved have been sentenced.
