Don't just focus on launching projects, how do crypto founders leverage Twitter?

Over the past year, I have been immersed in Crypto Twitter (now the X platform). Here, I want to share some thoughts that I believe are useful for building a personal brand.
TLDR:
- Stay authentic: In a world filled with AI-generated content, authenticity is the most powerful.
- Maintain consistency: Be active daily; the Twitter platform rewards active users, and building a personal brand takes time.
- Utilize data effectively: Use engagement and exposure as feedback loops, invest more in effective content, and discard ineffective content.
Basic Operations
- Start posting immediately: At least 1 tweet per day; Twitter favors active users, ensuring your content gets more exposure when it goes viral.
- Subscribe to a premium membership (do I even need to say this? Non-premium members are like NPCs on Twitter): Ideally, go for the enhanced version so you can write long-form content (like this article) and also get improved reply rates.
- Clear personal profile: Include your current position, 1-2 past positions, and areas of expertise.
- Profile picture: Either a high-quality photo or an NFT, and keep it consistent across different platforms.
- Ratio of following to followers (follow fewer people than your followers).
- Profile picture and cover photo should be visually coordinated and appealing.
- If your project has a Twitter verification badge: Apply for a Twitter affiliate badge for the project (beneficial for brand building, though it won't directly enhance algorithm recommendations).
- Pin a tweet about the project you are building.
- Post content beyond just cryptocurrency: Occasionally share your preferences, daily observations, etc., don’t turn yourself into a billboard.
- Team charisma: Encourage the entire team to post and interact, amplifying your best posts through your team and brand accounts.
- Brand consistency within the team: Make your project visually recognizable, such as similar profile pictures/visual elements.

- Join active NFT communities: Build reputation, use popular NFTs as profile pictures, and engage with the community.
- Retweet well-performing tweets after 6-8 hours (to appear in new time zones).
- Video content: If you can create short video content, this is a shortcut on Crypto Twitter; it’s filled with text, and the barrier for video content is low.
- Share your Twitter account at conferences: This can help you gain some new followers and step out of your current circle.
- Find your niche: You want to be remembered for something you excel at.
Maintain Consistency
Building a personal brand takes time. Audience growth is usually slow at first and accelerates later.
Don't Become a "Salesperson"
- Don’t just post about your own project; don’t turn into a billboard; first, you need to act like a real person.
- A good ratio to reference is 4:1; on Twitter, especially in the "enthusiastic" cryptocurrency community, for every promotional post, pair it with 4 valuable or interesting posts.
- Be strategic when promoting. No one cares about what you are building; they care about "what can it do," and what value it brings to them? When Apple promoted the iPod, they didn’t say "512MB memory," but rather "put 1000 songs in your pocket."
Some Basic Algorithm Tips
- Don’t use hashtags (please, it’s not 2012 anymore).
- The first tweet should never contain a link; Twitter will significantly lower the priority of such content. If necessary, place the link in the second tweet of the thread.
- Try new features on the Twitter platform: live streams, articles, long-form content, etc. Twitter will prioritize recommending new format content.
Growth Framework (0 to 100,000 Followers)

Level 1 (0→100 Followers): Build the Foundation
Core Logic: In the cold start phase, break the ice with "strong relationships + personal foundation building."
Key Actions:
- Leverage your network (friends, acquaintances) to break the awkward "0 followers" data and get the first batch of "seed users."
- Clarify your personal profile (profile picture, bio, background, etc.) so that people can instantly know "who you are and what value you provide."
- Don’t think about "taking shortcuts or scaling up"; first, participate in small communities, provide value, and accumulate weak connections (like being active in interest circles), patiently wait for the first batch of followers to build up.
Level 2 (100→1000 Followers): Expand Your Social Circle
Core Logic: Expand from "strong relationships" (friends) to "weak relationships" (like-minded individuals, small creators) through "authentic activity + differentiation."
Key Actions:
- Maintain a "real, interesting, and valuable" state; don’t pretend! People on the platform are more willing to follow "real people," not rigid "personas."
- Actively connect with those who can genuinely support you (like small creators in the same field, target audiences); don’t randomly engage, find those with "matching values/interests."
- Interact with mid-sized creators in your field (not top influencers, but those with follower counts close to yours and quality content) to leverage each other’s strengths.
- Find your "differentiation" (for example, while others write dry content, you tell stories; while others are serious, you are humorous), gradually making your content memorable.
Level 3 (1000→10k Followers): Break the Circle with Content
Core Logic: With a stable foundation, start breaking through with "high-quality content + broader connections."
Key Actions:
- Shift your focus to "high-quality, unique content" (like in-depth insights, exclusive perspectives) so that existing followers become "propaganda fuel" (if they find it good, they will actively share).
- Upgrade from "interacting with mid-sized creators" to "engaging with big accounts" (like sharing valuable opinions in big influencers' comment sections, collaborating), leveraging their traffic pool for exposure.
- Continue to aggressively "build relationships"; don’t stop! Whether it’s creators in the same field or potential audiences, interact more, connect more; the denser your network, the more pathways for dissemination.
- Keep content and interaction "consistent"; don’t post food today and tech tomorrow, making your followers’ "positioning" clearer.
Level 4 (10k→100k Followers): Define Your Personal Style
Core Logic: After growing your follower count, "focus + reject low-quality interactions + innovate content formats" is the long-term strategy.
Key Actions:
- All in on "content that you are truly interested in + validated by data" (interest-driven for sustainability, data validation shows audience buy-in); don’t chase trends blindly and lose yourself.
- Reject "low-quality interactions" (like random comments just to fill numbers, buying fake followers); these dilute your "personal characteristics," making followers feel you are "shallow."
- Innovate content formats (for example, while others write articles, you create podcasts; while others do live streams, you create interactive games), turning "unique content" into a "moat" for your personal brand.
Level 5 (100k + Followers): Maintain Original Intent and Iterate
Core Logic: Once follower count reaches a peak, "don’t get carried away + continue innovating + give back to followers" is key to retention.
Key Actions:
- Remember "why followers followed you" (for example, you initially attracted followers by "sharing career insights + sincerity," don’t turn into a pure advertising account later), don’t lose the initial "value anchor."
- Never stop in your "comfort zone," continuously upgrade content (for example, from "career insights" to "career resource connections" and "industry trend predictions"), maintaining "top quality" competitiveness in your field.
- Don’t act like a "high and mighty influencer"; interact with followers as much as possible (like responding to comments, doing Q&A sessions), making them feel "you haven’t changed, still value us," which increases loyalty.
What Should I Post?
- Document your journey of building the company: share openly.
- Engage with users/ask for suggestions: for example, "What is your favorite wallet experience?" Use your Twitter for research and user feedback.
- Create regular series: weekly updates/what was accomplished this week? Repetition can create value.
- Discuss your vision for the industry, not just your project, showcasing thought leadership.
- Your content should either be educational or entertaining; both can convey value.
Great, the tips are awesome, but where do I start?

Positive Replies
- In the early stages of building your account, replying is better than posting. When you interact with others' tweets, you will appear more frequently on their timelines.
- Use Twitter lists to interact with quality accounts, reducing noise, and actively reply to them daily.
- Reply to popular tweets; replies under popular tweets can also gain significant exposure.
- Turn on notifications for your favorite top accounts (optional; I personally dislike notifications).
- Be sure to reply to comments on your tweets; Twitter favors dialogue and will optimize the scrolling experience.

Data Analysis
Use data analysis as a feedback loop, repurpose and reorganize well-performing content, and discard poorly performing content.
Optimize exposure: more exposure → more profile visits → new followers.
Tools
- Typefully: for drafting and scheduling.
- ChatGPT: for tweet inspiration or text polishing; however, use AI for tweet frameworks, don’t use it to write content directly.
