Metis Open Letter to the Community: Metis is no longer "just L2"

Prologue

Metis has always adhered to a clear path, most recently at ETH Denver on March 6, 2025. From the very beginning, our goal has remained consistent: not to create another Layer 2, but to build an infrastructure that continuously evolves, experiments, and leads the future direction.

We start from scaling Ethereum and steadily move towards a future where blockchain and AI converge.

Traditional L2 solutions no longer meet the demands. This is precisely why we are building Hyperion—a layer optimized for AI, designed to enhance throughput and reduce latency. But infrastructure alone is not enough; we also need to build a layer of playability and meaningful interaction on top of it to attract community participation.

This is exactly the role of LazAI—it is the application and data layer where playability is realized. It makes the infrastructure interactive, meets market demands, and enhances community confidence.

Metis is a testing ground for new ideas—a place that dares to experiment, continuously iterate, and ultimately drive the entire industry forward. As we move forward, we must rely on trust and clear thinking to grow together. An Integrated Economic Toolkit: From Settlement to Playability

The strength of Metis lies in its unity. We are not dispersing value across various islands but building interconnected toolkits under one economy.

• Andromeda is our settlement and trading layer;

• Hyperion provides scalable computing power optimized for high throughput and low latency AI applications; Andromeda and Hyperion together form the infrastructure.

• At the top is LazAI, as the application layer, transforming the infrastructure into playability, points, data, and AI-driven value.

This toolkit is continuously expanding, bringing sustained value growth through the connections at various levels.

Recent key milestones showcase this evolution:

• Andromeda continues to operate as our main chain, tested in real-world scenarios;

• HyperHack attracted over 100 Hyperion developers to participate;

LazAI testnet went live, demonstrating true playability through Lazbubu; the whitelist event for the AI companion DAT Lazbubu attracted over 90,000 participants and has completed over 10,000 DAT mints. A User-Centric Journey

User participation begins with a simple and easy-to-use entry point that sparks curiosity; next, they will enter richer experiential scenarios where AI, data, and community features make participation more meaningful.

The future path is clear:

• LazAI incubates agents and applications through LazPad;

• Users can earn, mint, and interact with data assets;

• These assets will develop into broader use cases on Andromeda.

Lazbubu is the first step in this journey, showcasing how an evolvable AI companion can become the core of the user journey.

This is not just a static NFT, but an AI entity that evolves over time, transforming innovation into real experiences, aligning with market demands, and enhancing community confidence.
