The TRON network has initiated Proposal No. 106 voting, aiming to adjust the SELFDESTRUCT mechanism to enhance TVM compatibility

The TRON network super representatives (SR) have initiated Proposal No. 106 and entered the committee voting phase. If the proposal passes the vote, it is expected to take effect on April 10 at 20:00 (Singapore time). The proposal aims to adjust the execution behavior and cost of the SELFDESTRUCT instruction: the contract will only be truly deleted if the instruction is called in the same transaction that creates the contract; in other cases, only the contract assets will be transferred, and the contract itself will not be deleted. At the same time, the energy consumption of SELFDESTRUCT will be adjusted from 0 to 5000.

If the proposal passes, the relevant mechanism will further align with Ethereum, helping to enhance TVM compatibility. TRON reminds developers who have used SELFDESTRUCT to closely monitor the progress of the proposal and prepare for adaptation in advance. If nodes experience synchronization issues, it is recommended to first check whether they have been upgraded to v4.8.1.
