Israel claims that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard controls $1.5 billion in stablecoin funds
ChainCatcher news, the Israeli National Bureau for Counter Terror Financing (NBCTF) recently released a list of 187 cryptocurrency addresses, claiming that these addresses are associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Blockchain analysis firm Elliptic pointed out that these addresses have collectively received approximately $1.5 billion in USDT, but some wallets may belong to exchanges or shared services, making it impossible to fully confirm direct ties to the IRGC.Tether has frozen 39 of these addresses, preventing the transfer of about $1.5 million in funds. The IRGC has been repeatedly accused in recent years of using crypto assets to evade sanctions. Last week, the U.S. Department of Justice seized approximately $600,000 in USDT from an Iranian national, accusing him of developing drone navigation systems for the IRGC. In June of this year, the pro-Israel hacker group "Muddy Sparrow" stole $90 million from the Iranian exchange Nobitex and destroyed the funds, which has also been accused of colluding with the IRGC.
