Polish Olympic Committee President Radosław Piszczek was arrested on Thursday, suspected of receiving kickbacks from the cryptocurrency platform Zondacrypto during the signing of a sponsorship agreement. Polish Sports Minister Jakub Rudnicki confirmed the arrest on the X platform, stating, "Such a person should not hold the position of President of the Polish Olympic Committee; Piszczek has brought shame to Polish sports." Interior Minister Marcin Kwiatkowski referred to him as "a symbol of extreme corruption plaguing the Olympic movement."According to the investigation, Piszczek facilitated the sponsorship agreement between the Polish Olympic Committee and Zondacrypto in October 2025, which promised cryptocurrency rewards to medalists of the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. The Polish government accused Zondacrypto of having ties to nationalist opposition groups, organized crime, and Russian intelligence agencies, estimating that the platform's collapse caused losses of about 350 million zlotys (approximately 80 million euros), affecting around 30,000 people. The Interior Minister described Zondacrypto as "essentially a Ponzi scheme."Media investigations also revealed that Piszczek received a Patek Philippe watch worth approximately 40,000 euros from Zondacrypto CEO Przemysław Kral, who claimed the watch was purchased out of his own pocket. Kral is currently cooperating with prosecutors in hopes of a reduced sentence. Zondacrypto was founded by Sylwester Sucheck in 2014, who went missing in 2022, with Kral taking over his position. The Polish prosecutors launched an investigation in April of this year, and most Polish sports federations subsequently called for Piszczek's resignation.

A partner at a law firm in Chongqing has gone missing, possibly involved in a 210 million yuan stablecoin bribery and money laundering case

Multiple independent sources have confirmed to Caixin that the founding partner and director of a law firm in Chongqing has recently been taken away by relevant authorities. This lawyer is Peng Jing, the founding partner and director of Chongqing Jingsheng Law Firm. There is speculation that she has numerous connections with the officials who have recently fallen from grace.According to analysts, lawyers from law firms are usually not taken away by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, "but Peng Jing has a very large network, and her case involves too many people." On March 20, 2026, Chongqing Mayor Hu Henghua was reported to be under investigation, and on April 17, Luo Lin, a member of the Chongqing Municipal Committee and secretary of the Liangjiang New Area Committee, was also announced to have fallen. Reports from the local political and business circles in Chongqing suggest that the downfall of Hu Henghua and Luo Lin is related to bribery and money laundering through stablecoins, and "Peng Jing may be a key figure, helping others launder money under the guise of collecting legal fees." Sources indicate that in the Hu Henghua case, Lin Kechuang, the son-in-law of Lin Xiucheng, gave Hu Henghua 30.8 million USDT (approximately 210 million yuan, of which 10 million was for exchange fees). After Hu Henghua was investigated, the cold wallet was controlled, and authorities traced the funds from six other cold wallets held by Lin Kechuang; among them, a transfer of 15.5 million USDT that occurred simultaneously with Hu Henghua's was claimed by Lin Kechuang to have been sent to Luo Lin. Luo Lin was taken away by relevant authorities on April 14, 2026, and his home was searched on the evening of April 15, but this cold wallet was not found. Subsequently, authorities found Luo Lin's cold wallet at a third party's home.

The Russian prosecutor has applied to seize nearly $30 million in assets related to the former investigator involved in the WEX "cryptocurrency bribery" case

According to DL News, Russian prosecutors are seeking to confiscate a large amount of luxury assets belonging to fugitive secret service officer Georgy Satyukov. He is accused of receiving $184 million worth of Bitcoin and $30 million worth of Ethereum as bribes from the operator of the now-defunct WEX cryptocurrency exchange, while investigators have identified assets valued at $29.6 million related to Satyukov's alleged bribery.Prosecutors claim that Satyukov used the illicit funds to purchase 13 apartments in Russia, several non-residential properties in St. Petersburg, a villa in the UAE, and a million-dollar property in Saratov registered in his brother's name.Additionally, the investigation revealed that he owns two Porsche Cayenne Turbos, seven Patek Philippe watches, and other jewelry worth over $1.3 million, with more than $15 million in cash and foreign currency still in his family bank accounts. It is alleged that the bribes originated from Alexey Ivanov, a former system administrator of the WEX exchange, who sought Satyukov's help to evade a criminal investigation. Satyukov and his former colleague Dmitry Sokolov are currently fugitives, and a Moscow court is preparing to conduct a trial in absentia. If convicted, their assets may be nationalized. The WEX exchange took over the trading operations of BTC-e in 2017, which had shut down after its founder Alexander Vinnik was arrested in Greece on fraud and money laundering charges, and WEX also ceased operations in 2018.

Binance executives reiterated that a Nigerian lawmaker had demanded a $150 million bribe in exchange for dropping the lawsuit against Binance

ChainCatcher news, Binance's financial crime compliance officer Tigran Gambaryan recently reiterated that a rogue Nigerian lawmaker demanded a $150 million bribe in exchange for dropping the lawsuit against Binance. The relevant lawmaker wanted the funds to be transferred directly to their cryptocurrency wallet, using "fake cameras and media" to make the meeting with visiting Binance executives appear legitimate. In May 2024, reports emerged that Binance CEO Richard Teng accused members of the Nigerian House of Representatives Financial Crimes Committee (HCFC) of soliciting a $150 million bribe. At that time, Nigeria's Minister of Information Mohammed Idris denied the allegations, stating that it was a strategy by the company to "hurry to cover up the serious criminal charges it faces."However, Gambaryan insisted that this attempt was indeed conducted with the involvement of Nigeria's Department of State Services (DSS). He also stated, "The Nigerian government has publicly claimed that there is $26 billion in mysterious funds (through Binance) flowing out of Nigeria, which is completely nonsense. This information was provided at their request; it is merely the cumulative trading data of Nigerians on the platform. This money did not flow out of Nigeria—people are just buying and selling cryptocurrency. For example, if you trade $100 a hundred times, that amounts to $10,000 in trading volume, but in reality, you only used $100. Similarly, this is just another example of their lies to cover up a false investigation."Just after Gambaryan shared these explosive details, Nigeria's Minister of Information Idris issued a statement denying them. However, the statement acknowledged the bribery allegations, but Idris pointed out that it was the Nigerian government that initiated the investigation, "even though no one has formally filed a lawsuit." His statement also revealed that the Nigerian government rejected a U.S. proposal to pay $5 million in exchange for Gambaryan's release.
