Core member of the Ethereum Foundation, Josh Stark, will be leaving, having led several major upgrades including The Merge

According to The Block, Josh Stark, a key figure at the Ethereum Foundation (EF), announced his resignation after five years and will officially step down at the end of the month. Stark joined the Ethereum Foundation in 2019, initially working in the special projects team, and later rose to leadership, collaborating with EF Chair Aya Miyaguchi, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin, and co-executive directors Hsiao-Wei Wang and Bastian Aue.He is one of the most prominent members of the foundation's external image and has led several significant advancements in Ethereum, including the "The Merge" upgrade that transitioned from proof of work to proof of stake, as well as subsequent upgrades like Dencun, Fusaka, and Pectra. During last year's leadership adjustments at the foundation, he was appointed as the "co-manager" of the EF board and recently took on the role of co-chair of the "trillion-dollar security" initiative.Last month, Stark co-authored a strategic blog post on Ethereum with Josh Rudolf and Julian Ma, outlining Ethereum's latest scaling direction and its relationship with the Layer 2 ecosystem. Stark stated, "I haven't planned for the future yet; I just want to take a good rest and spend time with family and friends." This resignation occurs against the backdrop of ongoing changes at the Ethereum Foundation.Last year, the foundation underwent significant leadership adjustments, refocusing its strategic priorities on scaling the Ethereum mainnet and core cypherpunk values; Tomasz K. Stańczak also resigned from his co-executive director position at the end of February this year, having served for less than a year. On the same day, Trent Van Epps also announced his departure from EF to fully dedicate himself to Protocol Guild, the independent funding organization for Ethereum core developers that he founded.

Bitfinex Report: The market value of tokenized commodities surpasses 7 billion USD, and the upgrade of stablecoin infrastructure accelerates implementation

Bitfinex released a report indicating that tokenized commodities are moving from early experimentation to practical application, becoming an important manifestation of the reconstruction of real-world assets (RWA) on the blockchain. The core of this shift is not to create new demand, but to reshape existing market infrastructure.Data shows that the total market value of tokenized commodities has reached approximately $7 billion, growing nearly 600% since the beginning of 2025. Current major participants include crypto-native investors and high-net-worth individuals. Amid increasing geopolitical volatility, tokenization is enhancing asset liquidity and risk management flexibility. Gold remains the primary entry point, with Tether Gold accounting for nearly 40% market share. The report points out that on-chain gold possesses characteristics such as real-time transfer and global auditability, making it more suitable as collateral compared to physical assets, and it can overcome traditional trading hours and settlement limitations. In addition to gold, tokenized commodities have expanded into areas such as oil, natural gas, and agricultural products, with soybeans and soybean oil each around $400 million, and green financing-related exposure around $850 million, indicating that this model has cross-category expansion potential. At the same time, the traceability of blockchain has also enhanced supply chain transparency, meeting regulatory and ESG requirements. Bitfinex believes that in the future, the focus of tokenization will shift from precious metals to industrial products such as copper and oil, achieving a transition from "product innovation" to "market infrastructure upgrade" by improving collateral efficiency, asset circulation speed, and transparency.

Polymarket officially announces a major upgrade, reconstructing the matching engine and launching a native stablecoin

The on-chain prediction market platform Polymarket announced that it will conduct "the largest infrastructure upgrade since its launch" in the next 2-3 weeks, including a complete reconstruction of the trading engine and the launch of the native stablecoin Polymarket USD.This upgrade will introduce a brand new CTF Exchange V2 smart contract system, optimizing matching logic and order structure, improving matching efficiency, and reducing gas costs. At the same time, the platform will upgrade the Central Limit Order Book (CLOB), adopting a hybrid model of off-chain order matching + on-chain settlement. At the asset level, Polymarket will launch the native stablecoin Polymarket USD, pegged 1:1 to USDC, to replace the previous cross-chain version USDC.e on Polygon, enhancing asset security and consistency. In addition, the platform will support the EIP-1271 standard, allowing multi-signature wallets (such as Safe) to participate directly in trading, further expanding use cases for institutions and advanced users.Polymarket stated that the existing order book will be cleared during the upgrade, and the specific maintenance time will be announced one week in advance. This upgrade comes amid intensified competition in the prediction market, as the platform accelerates performance and user experience improvements.
