first_img DogeOS launched a public testnet, introducing EVM smart contracts for Dogecoin

DogeOS, the application layer of Dogecoin, launched its public testnet on Wednesday, introducing EVM-compatible smart contracts to the Dogecoin network as a zero-knowledge rollup, with DOGE as the native token for transaction fees. The project aims to support applications such as trading, lending, stablecoins, prediction markets, and gaming, while settling state back to the Dogecoin network.DogeOS currently uses a trusted execution environment, validators, and a permissioned sequencer to ensure network security. Future proposed upgrades to Dogecoin Core will allow Dogecoin miners to directly verify their execution proofs. DogeOS CEO Jordan Jefferson stated that Dogecoin does not currently verify ZK proofs on its own, and bridging state transitions requires valid proofs as well as signatures from a majority of validators and TEE signers. He mentioned that the team is currently focused on the public testnet, allowing developers time to build and test applications, with the mainnet timeline to be announced upon reaching the next development milestone.DogeOS comes from the MyDoge wallet team, which announced a $6.9 million funding round led by Polychain Capital in May 2025. Two months later, the DogeOS team submitted a proposal for a Dogecoin Core upgrade to add native ZK proof verification for Dogecoin, but this upgrade has not yet been implemented. Timothy Stebbing, a director of the Dogecoin Foundation, expressed hope that DogeOS will serve as a springboard for a new wave of practical engineering.

first_img Insiders: Hyperliquid core contributors have publicly sought feedback on the HIP-4 template

According to a post by @0xMaxs, Hyperliquid core contributor Xulian is publicly soliciting feedback on the latest testnet template for HIP-4. The template can be accessed via on-chain queries or the testnet API, with each template family identified by an incrementing integer suffix for the latest version. After collecting feedback, validators will review and vote on-chain, and only approved templates will be written to the mainnet for deployers to use; all template instantiations still depend on HIP-4 being enabled on the mainnet. It is reported that the testnet currently has 16 template records (including old versions), with approximately 12 latest templates based on the highest version of each family, covering 7 types of market structures. Candidate types include expiration prices (settled using specified period TWAP), price-triggered markets, range earnings, as well as central bank decisions, sports two-way options, and sports win/draw/loss, etc. The mainnet outcomeTemplates and deployer list are currently still empty, and permissionless templates have not yet been officially opened.HIP-4 is Hyperliquid's permissionless deployment standard for outcome/prediction markets, with the complete process being: community feedback, validator review, on-chain voting, template writing to the mainnet, and market creation by deployers once the switch is enabled.

first_img The Ethereum Foundation has launched the Platåberget testnet for early testing of the Glamsterdam upgrade

The Ethereum Foundation's DevOps team announced the launch of the Platåberget testnet as an early public testing environment for the Glamsterdam (Gloas + Amsterdam) upgrade. This testnet is open to the community and is planned to run for several months, providing developers with a stable experimental platform to identify and fix issues before the upgrade is deployed to long-term testnets like Sepolia and Hoodi. The Glamsterdam hard fork is scheduled to activate on August 20 on this testnet. The Glamsterdam upgrade includes several significant changes to both the consensus layer and execution layer, including built-in proposer-builder separation (ePBS), block-level access lists (BALs), gas repricing targeting approximately 200 million gas, an increase in the maximum contract deployment size from 24KiB to 64KiB, an increase in the initcode limit from 48KiB to 128KiB, and forward-compatible consensus data structures. Relevant EIPs are summarized in meta EIP-7773. Gas repricing will affect wallets, indexers, and gas estimation tools, and any tools with hard-coded maximum gas limits will need to be updated; EIP-8037 also introduces an independent state gas dimension, where new accounts or writing to new storage slots will be charged by state bytes. The Platåberget validator set is small and allows public participation, supporting deposits from validators or builders submitted through the Dora browser. The testnet provides one-click resources to add networks, faucets, and client images. The community can provide feedback on issues in the Ethereum R&D Discord and related specification repositories.
