first_img The cryptocurrency advocacy organization Stand With Crypto announced its first round of endorsements for Senate candidates

According to The Block, the crypto advocacy organization supported by Coinbase, Stand With Crypto, has announced its first round of Senate candidate endorsements. The organization stated that it will endorse Ohio Republican Senator Jon Husted, whose opponent is the crypto-skeptical former Senate Banking Committee Chairman Sherrod Brown. Additionally, it will endorse Ashley Hinson from Iowa and Chris Pappas from New Hampshire. This endorsement comes after the Senate's procedural vote on September 15 failed to pass the Clarity Act, which aims to establish a federal regulatory framework for the industry.Senate Democrats stated that they could not vote for a bill that would allow President Trump to profit personally from the crypto industry. Stand With Crypto's Executive Director Mason Lynaugh mentioned that after the Senate's recent failure to advance the Clarity Act, the organization’s more than 3 million advocates are fully shifting their focus to ensuring the election of candidates who support crypto. In addition to the Senate endorsements, Stand With Crypto also stated that it will increase advertising spending in six House campaigns, including those of Democratic Congressman Don Davis and Republican Congressman Bryan Steil. These newly endorsed House candidates all voted in favor of the Clarity Act when it passed the House last year. The organization has also endorsed more House candidates, including Congressmen Shomari Figures and Mariannette Miller-Meeks.

first_img Kalshi suspended the qualification of North Carolina candidate Barkett due to his bet on his own victory

The prediction market platform Kalshi announced a three-year suspension of trading eligibility for North Carolina Republican congressional candidate Laurie Buckhout, along with a fine of $2,589.96, due to her having purchased contracts related to her own campaign. According to a settlement agreement effective August 28, Buckhout purchased contracts worth less than $1,000 related to her candidacy, violating the platform's rule 5.17(z), which prohibits trading by individuals who have "direct or indirect influence" on the outcome.Buckhout stated in a declaration, "I did bet on myself, and it was indeed a foolish mistake. Once I realized the issue, I immediately cooperated to correct it. You could say my career as a Kalshi trader was very short." Kalshi indicated that Buckhout cooperated during the investigation and agreed to accept the penalties. Previously, Kalshi had imposed similar penalties on several politicians, including Minnesota Senator Matt Klein and former Texas congressional candidate Ezekiel Enriquez, who also bet on their own campaigns.Buckhout is a retired Army colonel who previously served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Cyber Policy. She is challenging Democratic Congressman Don Davis, replaying the 2024 matchup, in which Davis won with 49.5% to 47.8%. The North Carolina legislature redrew the district last year to make it more favorable to Republicans, and the Cook Political Report rated the district as "leaning Republican."

Coinbase supports the endorsement of 32 midterm election candidates by cryptocurrency advocacy organizations, all of whom support the passage of the CLARITY Act

According to Reuters, the cryptocurrency advocacy organization Stand With Crypto, supported by Coinbase, announced endorsements for 32 incumbent congressional candidates for the midterm elections in November. All 32 candidates voted last year in favor of sending the cryptocurrency industry's top legislative priority, the CLARITY Act, out of the House of Representatives, which is currently stalled in the Senate due to opposition from some lawmakers. The list includes key allies in the cryptocurrency industry such as Republican Representatives Tom Emmer and Bill Huizenga, as well as Democratic Representatives Ritchie Torres and Josh Gottheimer, some of whom are facing fiercely competitive races.Mason Lynaugh, Executive Director of Stand With Crypto, stated, "In 2024, we proved that crypto voters are real, and in 2026, we want to demonstrate our organizational mobilization ability; our advocates are a voting bloc that can truly impact outcomes."Stand With Crypto was launched by Coinbase in 2023 to influence elections by mobilizing voters rather than through large-scale campaign spending, and it claims to have over 3 million registered "advocates." In 2024, the cryptocurrency industry invested $170 million to support congressional candidates, most of whom won, and pushed Congress to pass the GENIUS Act for stablecoin regulation. During this midterm election cycle, the cryptocurrency industry has already invested nearly $200 million through channels such as the Fairshake super PAC to continue solidifying its influence in Congress.

A new American cryptocurrency political action committee, BLF, has been established to support candidates who advocate for blockchain-friendly policies

As the 2026 midterm elections in the United States approach, a new cryptocurrency political action committee (PAC) — Blockchain Leadership Fund (BLF) was officially launched on March 30, 2026. The fund was initiated by members of The Digital Chamber to support candidates promoting digital asset and blockchain-friendly policies across federal, state, and local elections. As a hybrid PAC, it can both make direct contributions to candidates and fund independent political advocacy efforts. Early supporters include Anchorage Digital and Chainlink Labs. The cryptocurrency industry is intensifying its efforts to influence the legislative process for digital assets in the U.S., especially during this critical period of discussions around regulatory frameworks like the Digital Asset Market Clear Act.Meanwhile, the well-known crypto super PAC Fairshake (supported by Coinbase, Ripple, and Andreessen Horowitz) faced setbacks in the Illinois primary in March 2026. Despite the PAC's strong performance since 2023, having raised $260 million during the 2023-2024 election cycle, supporting 33 winners in 35 primaries, and continuously accumulating $193 million by the end of 2025.However, its recent investment of nearly $20 million in the Illinois primary yielded poor results, with over $10 million spent opposing Democratic Senate candidate Juliana Stratton and nearly $2.5 million opposing Congressman La Shawn Ford, ultimately resulting in failure for both.
