The U.S. SEC sues two private equity funds: suspected of falsely selling Pre-IPO shares of OpenAI, SpaceX, etc., and misappropriating investor funds

According to Fortune, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has filed lawsuits against two private fund cases, accusing the relevant fund advisors of raising funds under the pretext of investing in popular tech companies like OpenAI and SpaceX before their IPOs, but allegedly providing false information to investors and misappropriating some of the funds. The SEC stated that Meyer Global Management and its head Owen Meyer are suspected of raising at least $18.5 million from nearly 100 investors to purchase shares of companies before their IPOs, but misappropriated at least $1.27 million, including using fund money for personal consumption, paying entertainment expenses, and personal investments. Among them, the SEC accused Meyer of establishing a fund for investing in shares of OpenAI and SpaceX, but some of the funds did not actually hold the relevant assets. In another case, the SEC and federal prosecutors accused Beyond Alpha Ventures heads Christopher Dinelli and Jacob Frankel of raising over $8.7 million from 35 investors and falsely promoting that the fund held shares in companies like SpaceX and xAI.The SEC stated that the two provided false investment reports, with some of the funds being used for options trading, film investments, and personal use. The SEC emphasized that the accused tech companies and their management have not been found to have engaged in misconduct. Regulatory agencies have been continuously monitoring investment products that promote "acquiring shares before popular private company IPOs" and have launched multiple enforcement actions against relevant private fund advisors.

AIA Ecosystem Fund: Four updates on the AIA ecosystem, including the official launch of products, promoting the alignment of token and equity value, etc

According to official news, the AIA Ecosystem Fund announced four updates to the AIA ecosystem, including the official launch of products, alignment of token and equity value, execution of token burn and unlock as planned, and the invalidation of unallocated tokens for dismissed members. In terms of products, the AI Token Smart Router under DeAgentAI was officially launched to the public today, providing unified access to DeAgentAI's proprietary models and 38 mainstream third-party models, supporting model routing, API calls, and usage measurement. Since the internal testing, the platform has served 8 top domestic and international large model clients, processing over 54 million external model calls, with monthly revenue exceeding one million dollars.Regarding the alignment of token and equity value, the AIA Ecosystem Fund stated that all revenue generated from products and business lines under DeAgentAI, as well as related intellectual property and value, will exclusively belong to the foundation and be governed by $AIA holders, with equity investors no longer entitled to residual cash flow. Additionally, the previously disclosed buyback has been fully completed, and the repurchased tokens will be burned as planned. The AIA Ecosystem Fund also stated that the one-year lock-up period for investors, team members, and advisors has ended, entering a three-year linear release period, consistent with the arrangements disclosed at launch; community, ecosystem, and staking shares will still be executed according to the original schedule. The shares of former employees who left normally will be distributed as agreed, but some former team members previously engaged in serious illegal activities. The AIA Ecosystem Fund clearly stated a zero-tolerance policy for any actions that harm the interests of the project and community. Any team member dismissed due to misconduct or harm to project interests will have their unallocated $AIA immediately invalidated, and the company reserves the right to pursue criminal liability.

WalletConnect Report: Global Cryptocurrency Regulation Enters Implementation Stage, DeFi Remains the Largest Unresolved Area

WalletConnect released a 68-page report titled "Current Status of Policy, Compliance, and Regulation," outlining global regulatory progress in areas such as payments, DeFi, trading, custody, and tokenization. The report indicates that discussions on cryptocurrency regulation in major markets have shifted from "whether to regulate" to "how to implement," with relevant frameworks transitioning from legislation to actual enforcement at different speeds, but cross-border rules remain highly fragmented. The report points out that the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) will be fully applicable from December 2024, with the national transition period ending on July 1, 2026; currently, there are about 330 authorized crypto asset service providers in the ESMA temporary register, and over 1,000 companies that were reported to have failed to obtain authorization before the deadline prior to MiCA's implementation. Hong Kong will issue the first batch of stablecoin issuer licenses in April 2026, and Japan's revised Payment Services Act will take effect in June of the same year. Although the U.S. GENIUS Act has become law, the relevant system will not be fully effective until January 18, 2027, and broader market structure legislation is still pending.WalletConnect states that jurisdictions are increasingly adopting a "regulated touchpoint responsibility" model, meaning that issuers and service providers must still fulfill anti-money laundering, sanctions screening, travel rule, and record-keeping obligations when interacting with self-custody addresses. Tools such as sanctions screening, on-chain analysis, address control verification, and reusable identity credentials have been used in some businesses, demonstrating that compliance and self-custody are not mutually exclusive; however, how to regulate decentralized software and protocols remains unresolved, and DeFi continues to be a major frontier issue for global regulation.

hot_img The new AI chip company Etched faces skepticism: Behind the $21 billion valuation, performance has yet to be verified by a third party

AI chip startup Etched recently completed a $700 million financing round at a valuation of $21 billion, but its technology claims are facing industry skepticism. The well-known hacker George Hotz's AI computing team, the tiny corp, publicly criticized Etched's marketing approach: there are many investors, orders, and hardware photos, but there is too little third-party data to truly verify performance.Etched's core selling point is LVI (Low Voltage Inference) technology, claiming it allows trillion-parameter sparse MoE chips to run at over 80% of theoretical peak computing power (MFU). Chip design professional Wesley Yue raised technical doubts about this: high MFU does not necessarily represent absolute performance—if the chip's peak computing power is low, even with an 80% utilization rate, actual performance may still lag behind competitors. Yue believes that Etched's design "does not make sense from first principles" and may be a result of repackaging after its early Transformer ASIC faced power consumption issues.Etched has not yet disclosed complete computing power, power consumption, and third-party benchmark data; the official website only states that "early customer tests have reached leading levels," and detailed performance data will be "released later." There is currently no evidence to prove that Etched is fraudulent. Etched has not publicly responded to this matter.
