Satellite communication infrastructure company Space Network has signed a binding pre-purchase agreement worth $50 million with Philippine infrastructure company HQ Company International Holdings to provide satellite connectivity to the Philippines through the low Earth orbit satellite network Freeport. The signing ceremony was held at SKY 31 in Seoul, attended by Space Network CEO Tae Lim Oh and HQ Company CEO Yongsoo Samuel Cho.According to the agreement, Space Network will provide access to the Freeport network, technical hardware, software, and ongoing engineering support, while HQ Company will be responsible for local sales, customer acquisition, spectrum authorization, and regional service implementation. Cho is the son-in-law of former Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos and has long been engaged in cross-border investment and infrastructure business in the Philippines. This agreement adds to the $100 million agreement signed by Space Network with Vietnam's DETI Technology in June 2026, bringing the total commercial pre-purchase amount to $150 million.Freeport is built and operated by Space Network, currently featuring 4 low Earth orbit satellites, with plans to expand to approximately 230 satellites by the time commercial services launch in 2029. Operators can purchase regional capacity and build their own services on the open network, with nodes settling through on-chain contracts. The related project Spacecoin combines blockchain protocols with low Earth orbit satellites for service pricing and payments within the network.

A French woman has been detained on suspicion of manipulating the price of Verasity tokens and had previously purchased real estate worth over 50 million euros in Dubai

According to the French newspaper Le Monde, a 45-year-old woman born in Russia and naturalized in France in 2017, Svetlana A., has recently been placed under investigation and detained by a Paris investigating judge on charges of organized fraud, serious money laundering, and participation in a criminal gang. The French National Financial Prosecutor's Office stated that she and her British partner Robert H. are suspected of committing organized fraud by manipulating cryptocurrency prices, with the related funds suspected to be used for purchasing properties in Dubai.Reports indicate that Svetlana A. invested over 50 million euros in 2022 alone, acquiring about 100 apartments and 3 luxury villas in Dubai, with total rental income from 2022 to 2025 expected to be at least 4 million euros; she also purchased an entire building containing 73 apartments for 68 million dirhams (approximately 17.4 million euros). The cryptocurrency mentioned in the report is Verasity (VRA), launched by her partner in 2018. The price of VRA surged 65 times over a two-and-a-half-month period in the spring of 2021, followed by a significant decline, currently down approximately 99.98% from its historical peak. The lawyer for the parties involved stated that the sources of the related wealth are documented and legal, and they deny any wrongdoing. The case is still under investigation.

Analysis: Global debt continues to rise, Bitcoin benefits from the decline in fiat currency purchasing power

According to Forbes, Bitcoin approached $90,000 earlier this month. Meanwhile, global debt continues to rise, and the "currency depreciation trade" surrounding the decline in purchasing power of fiat currency has become one of the factors driving up assets like Bitcoin and gold.Data from the Institute of International Finance shows that global debt increased by $10 trillion in the first half of this year, surpassing $365 trillion in total. The U.S. debt has exceeded $40 trillion, with annual interest payments rising to $1.27 trillion, surpassing defense and Medicare spending, and only lower than Social Security spending. The institute warns that as benchmark interest rates rise, interest costs will also increase.Nic Puckrin, founder of Coin Bureau and cross-asset analyst, stated that the current environment is favorable for "currency depreciation assets" like Bitcoin and gold, which is part of the reason for Bitcoin's recent rise. The larger the debt of major economies, the more likely it is to suppress real borrowing costs and allow inflation to erode the real value of debt, thereby enhancing the attractiveness of such trades.Analysts from The Kobeissi Letter pointed out that the purchasing power of the dollar has declined by 23% since 2020; if assets only increased by 30% during the same period, investors have essentially just broken even in terms of real purchasing power. The U.S. inflation rate has been above the Federal Reserve's 2% target for 60 consecutive months.
