first_img Grayscale Research Director: Generation Z starts investing at an average age of 19

Grayscale Research Director Zach Pandl published an article on September 28, 2026, in the company's column The Stack. The article states that among American investors, Generation Z starts investing at an average age of 19, Millennials at 25, Generation X at 32, and Baby Boomers at 35. Based on a retirement age of 65, Generation Z has an investment horizon of 46 years, which is over 50% longer than the 30-year horizon when Baby Boomers started investing.Zach Pandl: Starting to invest earlier not only benefits from compound interest but also expands the capacity to take on risk. When young, labor capital accounts for a larger proportion of wealth, and a longer horizon means more time to recover from fluctuations, as well as more future income available for continued saving and investing, thereby expanding the lifetime risk budget. He believes that the returns on digital assets are both volatile and potentially asymmetric, making them more suitable for longer and more flexible horizons.Zach Pandl also mentioned that for early investors, the cost of recent volatility may be less than the opportunity cost of missing out on long-term upside. With decades available for rebalancing, adding funds, and compounding across cycles, early starters may allocate a higher proportion to digital assets while keeping their lifetime risk balanced. Starting to invest earlier gives investors more time to absorb fluctuations, potentially enhancing the utility of digital assets in long-term portfolios.

first_img Central Daily News: Former CEO of Changxin Storage accused of pressuring for Samsung technology

According to a report by South Korea's "JoongAng Ilbo," a statement obtained from a former head of equipment investment at Changxin Memory Technologies (CXMT), who has a background at Samsung Electronics, reveals that the former CEO of CXMT, Wang Ningguo, summoned the Korean team, including the individual in question, from October to December 2016. He demanded they bring back Samsung Electronics' Process Recipe Plan (PRP) and equipment information, threatening to report them to the South Korean government if they failed to do so, and warned them to verify their connections and not to lie. The individual stated that they felt scared at the time. The report mentioned that CXMT's management referred to Samsung Electronics as "Huangshan."After working at Samsung Electronics for 28 years, the individual joined CXMT and was prosecuted for allegedly leaking and using Samsung's 1.6 trillion won investment in the world’s first 18-nanometer DRAM process without authorization. In April of this year, they were sentenced to seven years in prison in the first trial and are currently in the second trial. The PRP includes the sequence of about 600 steps in DRAM manufacturing, equipment, condition values, and the companies and models of the equipment. Park, a former process design engineer at Samsung, hand-copied the relevant content into a 12-page notebook in September 2016 and brought it out, and is currently under an Interpol Red Notice.During the court hearing, the individual stated that there was a claim made during communications with the Chinese side that investment would not be provided to CXMT if they could not produce the 18-nanometer process. They later learned that the other party had wanted the technology from the very beginning, and CXMT initially had no plans to develop it independently. The pressure mentioned occurred before a meeting to prepare for the investment application. CXMT was established in 2016 with an investment of 14.4 billion yuan from Hefei Industrial Investment, a subsidiary of the Hefei municipal government, and had not been profitable for about 10 years, achieving its first annual profit last year with a net profit of 7.1 billion yuan.

first_img The UK Chancellor of the Exchequer criticized Nigel Farage's "Bitcoin account."

In a speech on Monday, UK Chancellor of the Exchequer John Healey criticized Reform Party leader Nigel Farage's stance on Bitcoin, calling him "Liz Truss with a Bitcoin account." Healey stated that Farage wants the public to believe he is a representative of the common people, but on economic issues, he is simply "Liz Truss with a Bitcoin account." Liz Truss is the UK's shortest-serving Prime Minister, widely criticized for her 2022 mini-budget driven by debt. Healey also mentioned that his party, the Labour Party, will help the UK lead through fiscal discipline, good jobs, and a strong industry.Farage has long been a political supporter of cryptocurrency, primarily viewing Bitcoin as a matter of personal freedom since 2020, and opposing state control over currency. He has stated that he was denied banking services by the UK private bank Coutts, which led him to take a greater interest in digital assets. Last year, at the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas, he claimed that if elected Prime Minister, he would cut crypto capital gains tax and force the Bank of England to establish Bitcoin reserves.Farage has faced criticism this year for accepting donations from cryptocurrency entrepreneurs, including tech entrepreneur and Tether investor Christopher Harborne, as well as Ben Delo, one of the founders of the now-closed crypto exchange BitMEX. The Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation into reports of Reform violating overseas donation rules, with Reform denying any wrongdoing and stating that they will cooperate.
