first_img Grayscale Research Director: Generation Z starts investing at an average age of 19

Grayscale Research Director Zach Pandl published an article on September 28, 2026, in the company's column The Stack. The article states that among American investors, Generation Z starts investing at an average age of 19, Millennials at 25, Generation X at 32, and Baby Boomers at 35. Based on a retirement age of 65, Generation Z has an investment horizon of 46 years, which is over 50% longer than the 30-year horizon when Baby Boomers started investing.Zach Pandl: Starting to invest earlier not only benefits from compound interest but also expands the capacity to take on risk. When young, labor capital accounts for a larger proportion of wealth, and a longer horizon means more time to recover from fluctuations, as well as more future income available for continued saving and investing, thereby expanding the lifetime risk budget. He believes that the returns on digital assets are both volatile and potentially asymmetric, making them more suitable for longer and more flexible horizons.Zach Pandl also mentioned that for early investors, the cost of recent volatility may be less than the opportunity cost of missing out on long-term upside. With decades available for rebalancing, adding funds, and compounding across cycles, early starters may allocate a higher proportion to digital assets while keeping their lifetime risk balanced. Starting to invest earlier gives investors more time to absorb fluctuations, potentially enhancing the utility of digital assets in long-term portfolios.

first_img U.S. SEC Chairman: Plans to Establish a Framework for Cryptocurrency Asset Custody

The Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Paul Atkins, issued a statement saying that the Commission proposed a plan this week to fill the regulatory gap regarding the custody of cryptocurrency assets by investment advisors and funds, providing a clear custody framework and compliance path for an asset class with increasing client demand.Atkins stated that the existing custody rules under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and the Investment Company Act of 1940 were established before the advent of the internet, primarily targeting traditional assets and requiring the use of approved custodians. The custody capabilities for new cryptocurrency assets often lag behind the launch of the assets by several months. This proposal aims to address this issue while updating the custody rules for advisors and regulated funds that have not been revised for decades to align with current industry practices and feedback. The statement noted that this proposal is part of the SEC's regulatory framework for cryptocurrency assets. Related efforts include stopping the replacement of regulation with enforcement, issuing a no-action letter regarding the pilot program for the tokenization of securities by custodial trust companies by December 2025, publishing a classification description for tokenized securities in January 2026, and subsequent initiatives regarding the securities attributes of cryptocurrency assets, broker registration, Regulation Crypto Assets, and innovative exemptions for trading tokenized NMS stocks. Atkins indicated that more regulatory proposals will be forthcoming.

first_img Tavus claims that the Griffin model causes 48% of video call participants to mistakenly believe they are interacting with a real person

AI startup Tavus released a new model called Griffin on October 1, referring to it as the first "human interaction model" that can understand and generate face-to-face conversations, paying attention not only to wording but also to expressions and pauses. Tavus stated that in tests, after a one-minute video call with Griffin-Lite, 26 out of 54 participants (48%) believed the other party was a real person; its previous generation system only convinced 1 out of 41 participants.Participants were told they would have a one-minute video call with another person to discuss things they were looking forward to this year, and only at the end of the call were they asked if they suspected the other party was not a real person. Tavus noted that those who became suspicious typically noticed within 20 seconds. This result comes from Tavus's own research page, where participants were recruited through a channel they call an independent research platform. Community comments on X pointed out that these results have not been independently verified and do not meet standard protocols. In the NVIDIA VideoFDB benchmark, Tavus claimed Griffin-Lite ranked first, with a generation dimension score of 3.83, the next best system scoring 2.8, and human reference scoring 3.92; the perception dimension score was 3.73, with the strongest baseline at 3.44 and human reference at 4.2. Tavus stated that NVIDIA independently conducted this evaluation. Griffin supports full duplex, allowing it to listen, see, and speak simultaneously, with an average audio-video delay of 0.43 seconds on the NVIDIA H100 chip. Tavus completed a $40 million Series B funding round led by CRV in November 2025.
